Cooking is a station you place on the ground: the Cooking Pot. You feed it ingredients (mostly your custom crops) following a recipe and, after it simmers for a bit, it spits out a custom dish. Eating it grants you potion effects for a while.
There are no levels: each recipe always gives the same dish with the same effects. Variety comes from having many different recipes.
Cooking makes use of your harvests: it closes the loop farm → cook → buff yourself instead of just selling the crop. See Crops and farming.
The Cooking Pot is crafted at the table with 7 iron ingots + 1 campfire (campfire in the center, top-center slot empty):
Iron · Iron
Iron Campfire Iron
Iron Iron Iron
It's a placeable item: you keep it in your inventory until you set up your kitchen.
- Place the Cooking Pot on the ground (right-click).
- Light it with a flint and steel (right-click): it starts burning.
- Right-click the lit pot to open the recipe GUI.
- Pick a recipe: you'll see the final dish, the effects it grants and the ingredients you need.
- Press Cook! and insert the ingredients one by one (with the ingredient in hand, right-click the pot). A hologram shows what's still missing.
- Once they're all in, the pot cooks for a few seconds and drops the dish.
- Eat it to get the effects.
Quality counts: a higher-star crop (✦ / ✦✦) counts for more toward the recipe, so you need fewer pieces. It doesn't change the result, only how many ingredients you spend.
Ingredients in italics are custom crops (the pot ones); the rest are normal Minecraft items:

The pot respects land protection: nobody without permission in your area (ProtectionStones) can place or use a pot there. And while you're cooking, nobody can steal your ingredients mid-cook: only you (or an admin) can cancel your cooking, and if it's cancelled the ingredients come back to you.
Hit your pot to cancel the cooking (you get the ingredients back). Sneak + hit to pick it up and store it again.
